What Maintenance Does It Require? The sponge should be rinsed about every 2 to 4 weeks. It is important to wash the sponge gently with water from the fish tank instead of tap water. It is recommended to replace the sponge after 3 to 6 months of usage, as the holes of the sponge can become gradually clogged by tiny debris.
